How Hussain Sajwani Has Made His Fortune In Food And Real Estate

The DAMAC Group is a company that was established by United Arab Emirate businessman Hussain Sajwani in the early 1980’s. The company was initially a food catering company who served meals to people throughout the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Northern Africa. His company was also one of the major suppliers of food to American forces during the first Gulf War in 1991. Over the years he has expanded the scope of his company into a variety of other industries.

One of the biggest parts of DAMAC Group is now DAMAC Properties. Hussain Sajwani saw a great business opportunity open up in 2002 when the government of the United Arab Emirate changed the law which excluded foreigners from being able to buy property in that nation. Once foreigners could buy land, Hussain Sajwani bought a large plot of land in a part of Dubai that was underdeveloped. He then built a 38 story residential building which he marketed to wealthy foreigners, including those in Europe, the United States, and in Asia. This proved a great business decision as the tower was completely sold out before construction crews had even completed the building.

It was in 2013 that Hussain Sajwani teamed up with Donald Trump in order to develop some of his properties. Two of these properties, one already completed and one in the design phase, have 18 hole golf courses at the heart of them. In the agreement between Hussain Sajwani and Donald Trump, the Trump Organization will manage the golf courses which is something they have experience with. The first course, named Trump International Golf Course Dubai and designed by Tiger Woods, opened up to players in February 2017. The other course should be completed towards the end of 2018 at another development, also located near Dubai.

Hussain Sajwani family is an important part of his life. He is married and they have four children together. They live in Dubai in one of the developments he had built. He is a graduate of the University of Washington. It was right after he earned his degree that he returned to the United Arab Emirate and started his company.
